The People are Mad as Hell
When you tax and you tax and you tax, the people are bound to get MAD. Seriously, isn’t that why our ancestors revolted against England and the crown? It is unbelievable how many people are getting up set and starting to voice their displeasure of our government. It is time the government start doing it’s job and that’s LISTENING to its people and do what we sent them there to do!
I am to the point I’m tired of seeing the same old politics and politicians do whatever they want after they are elected. I want to see a politician that TRULY knows what it’s like to be a citizen and real worker first. I want to see a “Joe the Plumber” run for office! I’m disgusted with the career politicians. We need REAL American people in those offices!

I’ve been reading along for a while now. I just wanted to drop you a comment to say keep up the good work.
@Mike Harmon
I am simply keeping up with the news and posting what interest me. Lately that’s been the #teaparty and tenth amendment.
I appreciate the voice of confidence.
you’re an idiot.
@Jack
Even though I have to approve comments, I still approved yours. Your opinion is just that, your opinion. If you don’t like reading any of the following articles I put on MY blog, then please allow me to redirect you to http://estelpowell.com and you can read my disclaimer.
Other wise just calling me an idiot does nothing other than show you have no additional thought, other than your own agenda of nothing. You think I’m an idiot, great, but why? Give some additional info and post your opinion. I’m not going to stop those that want to give their ideas or comments, other than spam.
Thanks Jack. Hopefully you come back and put some meat into your post.
Thanks, Estell. That’s the kind of open-mindedness you should apply to your political view.
Your views on taxes are quite clear…just one question: What would you do with the money you save?
I sleep soundly knowing that my taxes should benefit programs that most would deem of great value. Notably, a better educated society; a physically healthier public and a more sustainable environment.
Regardless of whether one is a ’socialist’, ‘Christian’ or otherwise, the only thing that matters is that we all die – and you can’t take your money with you.
@Jack
Jack, I’m glad you came back. My political views are not completely closed minded, but I will agree that I am an extreme conservative.
I believe the income tax is unconstitutional. What would I do with my extra money? That’s easy. I would provide for my family and local community. I would not horde my money and stuff it under my bed or put it in books. I would save the same % as I do now for retirement, education for my kids and their inheritance. And I would spend the same % on my house, same % on my kids, same % on my debt. Nothing would change in my habits now, other than I’d be spending more money and distribute my personal money how I do now.
The president can abolish or put the income tax on hold. It’s an executive order. That would have been an IMMEDIATE relief to the country, but instead we got a PORK/Ear Marked/Pet Projects spending bill that takes 2 years before it reaches it’s peak of spending and then another 2 years until it’s completely done.
Fair Tax would then give us MORE cash flow, because it would be equal to everyone. You spend more money then you pay more to taxes. The 12-25 million undocumented illegal immigrants would then be contributing. And we’d not have to do the social programming and pay for them. They’d pay for themselves.
I do understand the government has a part to play in the welfare of its citizens, but that intervention should be VERY limited. I believe the individual has the right to work and create what they want out of life. Not sit around for hand outs. The colonialist had something similar happen. They instituted that everyone contributed and distribute evenly their crops. The smart ones figured they just need to sit around and they don’t have to work. As you can imagine that didn’t last long and they instituted that the farmers would keep they grew.
If you go and look at the European countries, their socialist ideas and programs do not work effectively. Why do people come to the united States for health care? We have one of the best health care systems in the world. I will agree talking to insurance companies can be a pain, but it’s better than being told by the government what health care I can receive. You should watch the video I have on my blog with the Reagan vs. Obama debate. Reagen brings up A LOT of good points in my opinion. FYI our public education system is one of the worst in the world. How many people do you know that are healthy and live off of food stamps? Not many in my opinion. I was on food stamps for 3 months, but once I got a better job and pay it was no longer a necessity. The individual needs to want to better themselves to get off of government programs.
One way of creating dependency for the government is to create social programs and make people believe they can not live without the government. EX: Health care. Once everyone is on health care, what is to stop the government from telling Doctors they can’t move, because they will disrupt the balance of doctors to patient ratio? That to me is the stepping stone into dictating how people can live their lives.
If it ever comes to the government dictating what Americans can and cannot do. Believe me when I say you’ll be happy to have a friend in me and many other conservatives.
As far as when I die, I wish for my children to have my belongings. If I worked and produced a fruitful life, then it should be passed to them.
Thanks for the comment and feel free to stop by and comment away.
As much as you may believe I am closed minded in politics, I’m open to hear what you have to say.
I appreciate the reply.
In order to have a well-rounded and developed frame-of-reference, I believe it’s important to build one. If all one can use to support their arguments is the shoddy track record of ANY American government (liberal, conservative or otherwise), I suggest they expand their life experience to any other developed nation with equal rights for all it’s citizens.
Americans are an incredibly proud people – and we should live beyond our borders in order to fully understand how much better the quality of life is in countries where Capitalism takes a backseat to Realism.
@Jack
Lucky for me then Jack, I’ve actually lived in many different European countries and have many friends that live abroad that I correspond with on a daily basis and talk politics. There are conservative minds there as well. My father was military and we traveled while staying in the European countries, the only one we did not travel to see was England and Ireland. We were one of the few families that lived off base and we actually had German and Belgian land lords at the time.
For someone my age I have a better rounded experience than most. How do you think the united States became more prosperous than our European breathern? I’m sure its not because we were socialist, we were capitalist. By 1913 we were in the top rankings of GDP and 1950 the US was the top GDP country in the world. We held that strongly until the creation of the European Union (1993)and since it has gone back and forth between both “unions”. But if you break out the GDP by countries then united States is top by 14,330,000,000,000 vs. Japan 4,844,000,000,000. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_(nominal)
So just my opinion again not being the highest populated country in the world we are doing very well vs everyone else being a capitalist country.
And yes Americans are proud people. And the quality of life is not much better abroad as you put it. I do feel their is a dislike for the united States because of how prosperous we have become.
Keep coming back I appreciate your comments.
If by prosperous you mean “money hungry, gas-guzzling, obesity-ridden, mini van-driving, garbage-piling, narrow-minded, poorly-educated, self-centered, gun-slinging, amendment-loving, bible-thumping, credit-abusing, war-mongering ‘Patriots’” – then yes, the US is pretty prosperous.
Which part of the shrinking $14 trillion GDP will take care of the growing $10,000,000,000,000 debt?
Have you been to Detroit? Have you spent any time in cities like Buffalo or Pittsburgh? Have you noticed banks closing? Mighty corporations sinking like ships? Cities that were once the heart of industry in this country are now little more than carbon copies of third world countries.
Our country is a dump. And capitalism got us here. You’re doing nothing to improve this because you don’t care. You think that just because you ’stay the course’ in your own little insulated suburban world, the real problems of our country will go away? Your selfish attitude, and that of your fellow conservatives, is making it worse.
You can turn a blind eye and pretend these problems don’t affect you. But eventually they will. And it’ll probably happen around the time your company is purchased by an emerging market competitor in India or China, you’re downsized and forced to look for a job that probably won’t exist.
So enjoy that $45,000 salary and the 401k you’ll probably never see. And while you keep fighting until your first heart attack to make $60,000, you’ll get as close to being the next Warren Buffett as the illegal immigrants you can’t stand.
And that is what makes the USA so prosperous.
And, by the way, this is an interesting, if not contradictory statement from your previous post:
“I do understand the government has a part to play in the welfare of its citizens, but that intervention should be VERY limited. I believe the individual has the right to work and create what they want out of life. Not sit around for hand outs. The colonialist had something similar happen. They instituted that everyone contributed and distribute evenly their crops. The smart ones figured they just need to sit around and they don’t have to work. As you can imagine that didn’t last long and they instituted that the farmers would keep they grew.”
You forgot to mention the “illegal immigrants”, or as the colonialists liked to call them, “slaves”. Just curious what you think they got out of this arrangement? A fair shake?
Ah, capitalism. What an amazing concept…fair to all.
@Jack
I will not debate the increasing money hungry, obesity, gas consumption of the united States.
(http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/hea_obe-health-obesity)
(http://www.autobloggreen.com/2007/07/12/yipes-a-graphical-representation-of-gasoline-use-around-the-wo/).
I also agree that a lot of people in the united States are abusing the credit, that is what got us into this problem we’re at now. People took loans they could not afford. I know many would say the banks made the bad loans, but quite honestly you can look at the Community Reinvestment Act by Jimmy Carter that forced banks to make the loans to low-income and mid-income neighborhoods.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Community_Reinvestment_Act)
I do however think Americans being “self centered” is an incorrect statement. As of 2007 the US gave $21,197,000,000 to other countries for assistance compared to Germany 11,048,000,000. Granted when you look at this in % wise we are low, but none the less we gave lots of money to others. (http://www.globalissues.org/article/35/us-and-foreign-aid-assistance#ForeignAidNumbersinChartsandGraphs).
Gun Slinging: We have the 2nd amendment to bear arms. So this is a moot point. Amendment loving? Every American should thank our forefathers for the Bill of Rights! This is what protects you from the government from trampling the freedoms you enjoy and obviously take for granted.
I must state I am not super religious, but this country was founded on Jedu Christianity. So our laws and society are based off that ideology. The fact EVERYONE has the 1st amendment to have freedom of religion allows anyone to practice what they want. The united States is a melting pot of various religious beliefs and people. But to know you can practice your life style as long as it does not hurt others is a GREAT freedom that nobody should take for granted and should stand up to protect.
We can thank Obama for continuing to add to the unnecessary spending and pork/pet projects/ear marks he is allowing to be put into the bills. 2008 we had $459,000,000,000 in deficit and for the next 3 years are 2-3x a year more than the Bush administration. This year alone we’re looking at $1,752,000,000,000 in additional deficit. (http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/assets/fy2010_new_era/Summary_Tables2.pdf). If we want to get that number down we need to have the government tighten down on the spending and keep moderate taxation. They CANNOT expect to raise spending and raise taxes. People already pay a large amount of taxes including the middle class. And by 2011 you can expect everyone will pay more in taxes when Obama does not renew the Bush tax cuts.
I travel to various metro area cities, but have not been to the listed cities. Some areas are hit hard by the recession. I’d expect Detroit to be hurting. The failure of these companies is their fault. Poor management and poor decisions. But what you don’t understand is that this country is not sustained by the large businesses. When they fail that gives small businesses an opportunity to come in and take some of the market. Capitalism is not all about big business. Small businesses are the true heart of America. I think $0 should have been given to these banks and companies. There is not any business that is TOO BIG to fail.
You can think I have a selfish attitude and live in a bubble, but Jack you don’t know anything about me. Just as I know nothing of you and do not wish to presume I do. I am not as blind as you think. I do know these problems can affect me at any moment. I have kids and a family to take care of. I’m responsible in that I am preparing myself for the worst. I have taken the necessary precautions to protect my family and help us ride out the storm as long as I can possibly do it. If I have not prepared enough I have family I can turn to that will help me out. To me that is the proper way to be prepared for the economic crisis. You should NOT rely on the government. Family should be the first line of defense against this global problem. If ALL your family is not prepared and you have nowhere else to turn, then the local community. Lastly the government. Just my opinion in how people should be prepared. But I know not all are responsible as I or my family.
I don’t work in a HUGE corporation. So the likely hood of a company from India or China buying us out is very low. Doesn’t mean it can’t happen. But I’ve been with my company a while and it’s a small time company that is a very small drop in the bucket of other companies.
I want you to know one thing. I do not want to be Warren Buffett. I do not wish to be a millionaire. I do not wish to be the richest man in the world. I only want to have a job I enjoy doing and take care of my family so they have a good life. I am a capitalist, but I’m not driven by money. I do not live outside of my means. My wealth I receive in life is with the time I spend with family and friends. As that is worth more than any money. I understand that money is a necessity for living in this world, so it does play a part in life.
Quite honestly I’d rather not get into slavery, that is a different era and ideology then. I agree that it is inhumane to own another human. I believe in Natural Law that every man is equal and should be respected. I will greet ever person the same as the other. I am against illegal immigrants, because there is a process in which to become a citizen here in the united States. Also English should be the language they learn to become a citizen. We are one of the only countries that do not specify a national language.
As always I appreciate your opposite opinion and it is welcome here any time.
Gosh, Jack, you seem to have a lot of anger and IMO have lost faith in your fellow man.
I won’t cite, but if I recall correctly, Bill Gates made a ton of money in the capitalist system. My understanding is that he and his wife are spending BILLIONS of their own money and through foundations they have set up, to educate children and bring literacy to all.
The beauty that I see in the US, a vision you have apparently lost, is that anyone can become a Bill Gates. Hell, look at Britney Spears or Barak Obama. That is what makes this country great. Any damn fool can probably make a decent living under a capitalist system.
I remember a great line out a Robert Heinlein novel where a politician was promising “that everyone will have an above average income under my administration”.
Impossible of course, but the corruptocrats in DC would have you believe it.
Thanks for stopping by Mike. I apologize it took me a few days to approve, my brother came into town Friday for a week.
Back on topic, you’re absolutely right in your comments. I think the huge difference between Jack and me, is he believes in the government first and I believe in the people first. I agree not all RICH people are gracious like Bill Gates and his wife, but the same can be said about the government, not all are good politicians. So you’ll always have a few bad apples in the barrel. The best thing to do is pick them out of the barrel.
