Valdosta Tea Party

April 7, 2009
By Estel Powell

Well I wanted to organize a tea party in my area, but with it being on a work day I opted not to. I figured someone would step up and they have. Diane Cox has set up one of the 2 tea parties in my town. If you live near Valdosta email her or call her at 229.247.4111.

I’m not sure if anyone keeps up with my blog for personal info, but I don’t divulge much. My wife and I have our  anniversary on April 15th. We’re looking to attend the 6:30pm tea party and also maybe take the day off and attend the one hosted by Diane at noon.

My wife has her own photo business Memories to Last. So expect LOTS of photos from any of the rallies we attend! Good luck to ALL!

Tax Day Tea Party

April 15th

Mathis City Auditorium
(Gather along the front sidewalk)
2300 N. Ashley St.
Valdosta, GA 31602

12:00 pm to 2:00 pm

Get involved and be counted in the Valdosta protest of run away government spending, borrowing, pork, and taxes.  The Tea Party is part of a national movement to protest the spending of trillions of dollars which will leave our great-grandchildren a debt they must pay.

American Revolutionary era costumes and American flags welcome. Bring your children.  Bring your own poster board with messages on the front and back.

Obama has yet to understand he’s there to unite the country by removing the endless use of the fear card by both parties, that has our country stalled. Squandering his opportunity to unite all races to take back our government is an insult to the fearless Martin Luther King Jr., that knew his historical opportunity and delivered. Obama owes it to all Americans to fearlessly refresh and keep that spirit alive and well.

Getting the country over the race card was one of the reasons I voted for him (I really liked his speech on race, leveling the field). Unfortunately, this economy has him at a loss to really do much in other areas including that one. I always felt that healing the races would be something he would do in a second term anyway. But at this rate, I don’t know how likely he’ll be to have that chance. Everything kind of hinges on the economy getting better. I’m not sure anyone could have fixed our financial mess this term, so it may end up being a tragic waste of a great opportunity. But you never know, it’s been a LONG first year, but it’s still only just the first year. We’ll just have to see how this all plays out. In the meantime, keeping our government aware of our opinions is our most important burden.

Obama has failed so far in uniting the country on race in my opinion. I think some of the first steps is to abolish the affirmative action bills at the state levels. 2 states did this in 08, Nebraska and Arizona I believe. I wrote a blog on it earlier in the year. Additionally getting rid of the Hate Crimes, I think the government is the ones causing the race issues now. I think most Americans are moving past racial issues. It will still take another 20-50 years before it’s down to a minimum. The government has to take the step to look at things objectively. Go back to lady judgment that is blind and fair.

Right now our most important things is to get the economy back on it’s feet. These stimulus bills and throwing more money at problems to spend our way out of this crisis are stupid. It’s like putting a band aid on a wound that needs stitches. Which in essence leads to longer healing and bleeding just a tad slower. We need to properly let this thing run it’s course. We definitely don’t want to end up as we did in the 30′s where it took a world war to get us out of the crisis. I believe in the individual and when there is a dire crisis man comes out on top by surviving, not by being given handouts. This is a pivotal part in our history. How do we come out of this? Do we come out stronger as survivors or weaker as a people dependent on it’s government to help with everything in our lives. Losing more freedom and liberties.
